Facebook has been making changes to user’s privacy settings since this crisis, but is it too late to lessen the impact. I have even seen articles that users will be able to find out soon if there data was compromised by Cambridge Analytica. Personally, I believe that there will be many more accounts deleted in the upcoming weeks. Facebook’s big…[Read more]

Universities using this type of data is not intrusive to the students privacy. Most courses take attendance on canvas or some kind of sign in code. It would be extremely beneficial for advisors to reach out to these students and offer them any kind of guidance. Some of the students who are not attending classes have either personal or medical…[Read more]

Blockchain is a digital ledger in which transactions made in a cryptocurrency are recorded chronologically and publicly. The attractiveness of this new technology is that […]

I’m fascinated by blockchain and cryptocurrency, so it’s always interesting to learn more about current events surrounding the technology. Blockchain and cryptocurrency are incredibly valuable and will only increase in value as time goes on and more applications centered around the methodology are developed. With this comes no surprise that more and more hackers are learning to breach securities to make a quick buck.
I remember reading about UFC’s paid hosting service, UFC.tv, having Coin Hive javascript hidden in the site. Users would pay to use the service while unknowingly having their PCs mine altcoins for whoever placed the coin there. I’m certain we’re not finished seeing shady tactics around blockchain and crypto, but hopefully security measures develop as well.
-
I think cryptocurrency has a lot of room for hacking and might not be the most secure investment that one can make. Whenever a large amount of money is involved and possibilities are out there for people to take, ways will be found. With cryptocurrency growing and still fairly new I think the room for others to hack is also growing. Although I am a fan of the blockchain and a worldwide currency to support everyone I think that if crypto currency does not become more secure soon, many investors will take out their portions.
-
As an investor in cryptocurrency, I do think it has a bright future. However, investing in it should be done with great caution. The amount of money in it definitely causes security concerns regarding the potential of hacking. The development of more secure ways of investing in and holding cryptocurrency will take time, but I believe it will ultimately result in methods that are extremely protected. Hopefully this happens before too many investors are scared off by the current threat of hacks.

I think that cloud computation is a good way for companies to change management and innovate. The benefits that it provides makes it a simple choice for a company that is using a system low on capacity or experiencing other issues. The cloud allows employees to work from home more efficiently while maximizing security and cutting costs. Even…[Read more]

Self-driving cars are an interesting concept. The benefits that they will provide us are enhancing our productivity, minimizing accidents, and more efficient traveling. If all of the cars on the roads were autonomous, driving from one place to another would be faster since the vehicles would be in sync with each other allowing them to travel…[Read more]

Cole Derhammer wrote a new post, Amazon Go: the store of the future, on the site MIS4596 SEC 002 Spring 2018 1 year, 10 months ago
When the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, purchased the conglomerate Whole Foods in early 2015, he envisioned an innovative way for consumers to shop at stores. At the end of 2016, A […]

I think the concept of this sort of brick-and-mortar store is fascinating, but at this stage is more of a novelty than a legitimate alternative to traditional shopping methods.
I don’t know if it’s accurate to use the 3.5 million cashier jobs figure as that would assume a 100% shift to this new, cashier-less method of purchasing goods, but I do agree with you that it could be problematic for those who hold these positions. This also made me think of the Aldi case from Integrative Business Applications. Aldi stores operated (and operated well) with a skeleton crew. This, of course, limits jobs at each location, but the ultimate end experience is generally viewed as positive by shoppers and Aldi employees alike.
I believe Amazon Go could make some waves, but it won’t be the technology or paradigm that makes us change brick-and-mortar as we know it.

Although it might not be economically ethical to implement these types of stores, many organizations are doing it any way and its proven to save them money and become more efficient. Honey grow for example does not have any cashiers instead they use an application for food ordering in the store which reduces human error and saves the company money. I personally enjoy using such services because I’m less pressured in making decision as I have the time to choose on my own. It certainly brings up the point of how many jobs will technology cut away as innovation continues to grow. Amazon has a long way to reach its peak as its innovating day by day.
-
It’s hard to say its economically ethical to implement these types of stores. We do know that the rate of unemployment will increase, based on implementing these types of store. But in our current society, we need more technicist. Even if Uber drivers do not know how to use the app, they will be eliminated from the career. Personally, I would love to shop at Amazon Go, because it is more convenient, no waiting line, and fast check-out with the electronic receipt. And I don’t know when will Amazon reach its peak, but it may not reach its peak based on Amazon Go. Because Amazon Go’s executive, Gianna Puerini, said Amazon has “no plan” to do so. They don’t plan either they will open more Amazon Go stores or sell the system (cloud computing services) to other retailers.

Nowadays, everything is about convenience. I think that these types of stores will be really successful as they expand. It is a lot easier for consumers just to grab and go rather than wait in long lines. I would definitely shop at an Amazon store. I am already a Amazon prime member and I am loyal to the company. Amazon is at the top of its game and I don’t think they will be slowing down anytime soon. In my opinion they will be one of the top corporations to ever exist. They are smart and know what consumers want.

A business question that you could answer using a decision tree would be what type of car someone might buy. Car dealers would be able to analyze a person’s age, gender, marital status, and income level to make this prediction through the use of a decision tree. For example, a married man, who has three children, would probably more interested in…[Read more]

This could definitely reduce the amount of mass shootings in the US if the technology is implemented successfully. It’s really interesting to read about solutions that differ from the ones that are always discussed when major shootings occur. I’m a little skeptical about the lack of privacy concerns expressed by the company’s CEO however. It makes me curious to see if the plan would face a lot of opposition when they attempt to implement it. Regardless, I think this would a good compromise among the different positions held by the political parties and provides a good way for AI to make the world a better place.
I think this technology is a great idea in helping the issue of mass shootings which is a current issue in the United States. I think this technology can help reduce the number of mass shootings by not only finding people who carry guns, knives, or other dangerous weapons, but it also may reduce the number of people carrying dangerous weapons as well as any other illegal items. I think this technology is a great idea and hopefully, if used correctly, it becomes in high demand and is used throughout the country.
I think the PatScan system could help lessen the amount of mass shootings. I also do think there will be potential privacy issues because of this system. Even though it does not take any pictures, it’s probably possible it could flag someone for carrying a non-dangerous metal object, and that may not want to be searched. I think there are places that could benefit from this system, especially schools and casinos. Mass shootings have become too common and a system where everyone has to walk through this “metal detector” could stop some shootings before they happen.
This technology can defiantly have some great benefits in catching people with guns and preventing mass shootings. This can also scare people in
This technology can defiantly have some great benefits in catching people with guns and preventing mass shootings. This can also scare people in to not try and bring guns into places that could potentially have this technology. When a person is not aware he is being scanned for a gun he is not likely to be careful and it could catch many people. Systems like this need to be build into schools and hotels where many people are not checked and prevention of shootings could occur.
