My experience at QVC was quite rewarding, and I gained some valuable skills. I have learned many project management skills, and I’ve gained critical skills regarding Change and Access Management. I’ve been able to use my knowledge from my MIS classes to better understand the many enterprise processes that go on at QVC, and it has helped me…[Read more]

Hello Dominick,
I think we have already been introduced to numerous innovations surrounding the recent interest in sustainability and renewable energies. Out of all of these disruptive innovations one company is at the forefront of renewable energies and sustainability, and this company is Tesla. Tesla’s cars are dominating the electric car…[Read more]

Hey Kevin,
This is definitely an interesting perspective on startups, and it could honestly determine the future of startups success. I believe that startups should take a more integrative approach when attempting to disrupt an industry. Many startup companies are ignoring the integrative thinking model as a whole, and according to Forbes one…[Read more]

There are several valuable lessons that I’ve learned from my internship, but I think the most valuable skill I’ve picked up is staying open-minded. In classrooms you are taught to think the way that the book says, or the way that the teacher tells you to. For exams, you have to make sure you are focused on learning the material the way the teacher…[Read more]

I believe the project management skills that I learned in MIS 3535 were very helpful to me in my internship. I have used the skills I learned in that class to maintain proper due dates and meeting times with my team. That class has helped me develop a set of skills that are critical to my time at QVC, and these skills have allowed me to assist my…[Read more]

I think you bring up some valid points about the taxi industry, but I think that when logically looking at Uber, it is just an innovation. Christensen’s stance on Uber is something that I am in complete agreement with because Uber has just figured out a way to further the taxi industry. This is just an innovation because they have developed a way…[Read more]

I think this is a great example of a disruptive innovation, and I definitely agree that the transistor radio was a huge new market disruption. Another old disruptive innovation that comes to my mind is the CDs because before then you had records. The CDs took audio technology to another level by allowing multiple songs to be placed on one disk,…[Read more]

Darpan M Patel commented on the post, Discussion Question #4: How do you do it all???, on the site 7 years, 9 months ago
I agree with many of the people that posted above, it comes down to time management and scheduling. Balancing 12 credits and an internship comes down to making sure you utilize your free time to be productive and accomplish homework/studying. The way I manage all of this is by utilizing a planner to figure out which assignments are due, which…[Read more]

During my internship at QVC I noticed that all the different parts of IT keeps the company on its toes. I think cutting out management and giving employees the power to develop and innovate on their own would be catastrophic to QVC. QVC runs 24/7 and there is someone monitoring around the clock, and this is critical to make sure that our customers…[Read more]

During my internship at QVC I noticed quite often that people were storing work files on their personal Dropbox accounts and Google Drive accounts. This directly relates to how NASA’s employees were storing proprietary information on the cloud, and I think that there should be a strict restriction on access to these cloud accounts. There are…[Read more]

I believe the most important skills I have discovered in my internship have to do with shadowing people and learning about the company. In college, you aren’t usually taught all the different terms each company uses because they are different in almost every company. I think this is a skill I have picked up during my internship, and I can i…[Read more]

I think that multi-cloud models could become beneficial to companies as they will be able to leverage the strengths of multiple different platforms. The relatively low cost of cloud based models might make this more common as time goes on. As integration begins to take place as you mentioned multi-cloud models will probably become a lot more popular in a lot of companies.
I think the main challenge of multi cloud environments is the lack of integration. This could make it difficult for some employees to effectively learn to use multiple different cloud environments.
