I think learning how to use tableau was my best and most important takeaway. I am an MIS major, so i knew a lot of the topics that we discussed about data. However, I knew nothing about Tableau before this class and I learned that it is very useful.

A data-driven service that I use regularly is blackboard. The rows would represent each individual class. There could be a lot of columns. One could be the professor. Another would be the name of the course. The CRN for the course could be used as the id, or you could just assign an id to class. You could also have a column for my grade in the…[Read more]

A KPI that I use every day is amount of time I spend doing schoolwork and studying. The purpose it serves is that it improves my grades. It is measurable simply because I am able to count the time that I spend doing it. I can set a goal in order to receive a certain grade and achieve that goal. This is very relevant to my success as a student.…[Read more]

I have never made any of these mistakes. however I believe that number 1 is probably the most important to avoid because you can remove large amounts of data and configurations by making a simple click. It is very easy and tempting to just click yes. So I would say that this is the most important one to avoid.

This article talks about pretty big hack at Equifax. About 700,000 UK customers had their information stolen. I thought it was pretty interesting because it goes to show how we still do not have a good hold on cyber security. This…[Read more]

I think Simplify is the most important principle for a few reasons. First, People do not want to take too much time to figure out how to read data visualizations. If it is too complicated, not as many people will want to read it. We should only see your end result when looking at your data visualization. also, it is just good practice because it…[Read more]

I think that Simplify is the most important step for a few reasons. First, if a data visualization is too complicated, then people will naturally just not try to figure it out. We should not have to look at anything else than your end result and it should be simple. Also, its just good practice because it is the most efficient way to display data.…[Read more]

I have always heard that students who attend class get better grades. To test this, I would record all the student’s attendance in a certain class and compare their attendance with their grade. This would allow me to identify any correlation between the two. I would do this for several classes to get a more accurate result.
