Throughout the course we found how if your data was altered or “dirty” in any way it can severely skew results. With this we learned many ways to clean data and how to see if data is corrupted. As a whole this information will be very valuable…[Read more]

A mistake I have made before from this list, is the error in #4 where when you sort a spreadsheet and you do not add all the columns. I was organizing a list of internships for my job in the STHM CSPD, but neglecting to add 3 extra columns when sorting which would have left the data out of place for these specific 3 entires. I was able to fix it…[Read more]

You would be able to collect data on this by going around to wealthy individuals and asking them to describe their life satisfaction, then, by comparison, ask those w…[Read more]

One of the best takeaways that I got from the guest speaker was how when he talked about working with QVC, how they were able to increase sales on the fly during the show. I found it extremely interesting that by telling the sales person who was live on the show, certain words or phrases to say just to increase the number of buyers. This can…[Read more]

The article I found is centered around analytics in sports, particularly the NBA and how two of its best big men have some large flaws in their play. The first article talks about Demarcus Cousins and how his slow style of play does not match with the up-tempo style his new team the Pelicans play with and how at the rate which their both go will…[Read more]

Of the 8 core principles for good data visualization, I thought that the most important was the explore principle. This makes the viewer have to do more than just look and retained the information from the visualization, but instead, it makes them have to view through all the data there to get the full just of it. This will, in turn, create more…[Read more]
