Hello,
I will be working with:
Kevin Lynch
Marlea Tremper
Bridgette BrodnyanWe plan to make an application called “The Move”. The app will help people search nightlife options (bars and clubs) based off a number of criteria. It will be similar to Yelp except entirely focused on bars and clubs. It will provide, in a simple and straightforward manner, all of the relevant information people such as ourselves want to know when choosing a bar to go to: Is there a cover? Is there a dress code? What time is it most popular? Is there usually a line? What type of music is played? … and other criteria along those lines. Also, we want to incorporate some real-time data features so that users know what is a lively place to attend at that moment. We think that with the real-time data features, and the strict focus on bars and clubs, our app provides a solution to a current problem and significantly differs from Yelp.
Hi Sean – So you’ve thought this through in some detail, which is good. But I’m not yet convinced this is something better than Yelp (which has reviews on everything) or Google (which will show foot traffic by time of day). I suppose Google isn’t even real-time, but collecting that data could be expensive, so how will you actually do that (crowdsourced?)? One thing to do is start with the problem you’re solving – you don’t actually state the problem? It’s not quite “where to go” – other services already do that, even if they provide less information. So what is the issue you solve?
There’s also my “go-to” question – what is the revenue model? How will you make money enough money to make this sustainable?
