The article on the Anti-Hacker Executive Order came to mind while reading this article. These individuals who had the ability to disable a TV station, even for a few hours, had to be knowledgeable about the type of security, or lack of, for this station.

After reading this article, I wonder how popular this watch will be with all of the security issues that need to be considered. If you have to wonder about how vulnerable your information is continuously, it would deter me from making this purchase.
I agree with Donald’s comment. I am also an android user, but am sure that this technology is…[Read more]

Once the internet came to fruition, it was inevitable that these problems with security would develop. There are no clear cut solutions. So whatever needs to be done to deter these individuals from breaking the law it needs to be addressed as aggressively as possible. Good article.

This concept appears to be very versatile and can be applied to various areas of business. I agree that a company should try this concept by experimenting with a test case before implementing to make sure it has “measurable business value.” With the Internet playing such a huge part in B2B, I cannot see how this concept cannot have business value.

Great article! Safety has been an issue with companies since corporations began mass production of services and/or products. Safety is only addressed when it affects the financial security of a company. With the intertwining of supply chains and risk management, companies have to look at how to reduce the safety risk prior to distribution of…[Read more]

Wow! This is a truly deep article and scary, but, unfortunately, with everything that is going on in our world, this might be considered a necessity. There are so many individuals who are bent on doing harm to other people, and although, the government is not able to keep up with all of the hackers and terrorists, I have to admit that I feel a…[Read more]

Really interesting article. I loved the comment by the author about “Trekkies and the Holodeck” because I am a Star Trek fan and can picture this device being something that could be used on a regular basis. Having the ability to sit in your office and be transported to an entirely different environment for a meeting or for a demonstration of a…[Read more]

Very interesting article on B2B and B2C. Definitely has the potential to be even more dominant because it provides accessibility to various distributors internationally whose prices are more competitive which is a plus for small and medium sized business. Competitive prices means that more of the capital can be applied to the workforce which is…[Read more]

Since I shop online at least 90% of the time, I found this article to be quite interesting. For these E-commerce companies to compete with the brick and mortar businesses, they had to create virtual locations. Just like the brick and mortar businesses had to create E-commerce sites for those of us who enjoy shopping from home, but like having the…[Read more]

This was an interesting article and it made me think of my last experience at Red Robin where I could chose a drink from a small tablet that was attached to the table, as well as, pay for my meal once I was done. This technology will probably grow within the next few years, but being from the “old school”, I still enjoy the interaction of having a…[Read more]

As the CIO of USPS, James Cochrane has a vision for the USPS that is to have his IT department develop system that makes this organization just as competitive as the other delivery services in this field. As he has stated, “his background is not in IT”, but he understands to stay competitive the USPS has to become more diverse with information…[Read more]
I think many companies will start to move in the direction of cloud-based software. Although you mentioned the security issues that accompany this switch, I think the mobility that this system provides will overshadow many of these concerns. When looking to implement this type of system, specifically for procurement purposes, I think companies should look toward outside experts in order the get a good grasp on the project and its components. A comprehensive plan and timetable as well as the inclusion of associates from multiple levels should also be included. Also, appropriate training is probably the most important factor to ensuring that everyone can easily navigate and use this software to it full potential. I think you do make a good point regarding the possible security concerns including BYOD policies but I think the move toward this cloud-based software in inevitable.
