- The purpose of this project was to show that we can take a raw form of data and transform it into something that makes sense to someone. In this case we use visual aids.

Legal Businesses in NYC API Project
https://github.com/ishika218/API
https://misdemo.temple.edu/tul25904/api1/
This API is used to investigate a connection between certain New York City neighborhoods and the more prevalent licensed industries in those neighborhoods The most frequent business sector in places like the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan is cigarette retail dealers, while the most frequent business sector in Queens, Staten Island, and places outside of New York is home improvement contractors. Information of this nature is crucial and it is interesting because it might shed light on the socioeconomic conditions of certain regions and give more insight on why some industries are as well-liked as they are. With this information, I can conduct further research in these areas to highlight why the data indicates what it does. For my final project, even if I don’t use the these variables and parameters and a treemap chart, I can still use this information to gain a deeper understanding of why certain firms operate in various New York neighborhoods the way they do and how this might be extended to the rest of the US
Semester Long Web API Project: NYC OpenData Application
For my MIS2402 class, I had a project where I had to create a dynamic web-based chart of API data that was interesting to me. What resulted from my project was an application that created two dynamic web-based charts, one that was a pie chart, and the other was a line chart. This project helped me improve my use of the Javascript function .getJSON to get data from API data, but it also helped me learn how to turn data that is not immediately usable into data that will work with functions like .sort. I also learned how to use the ImageCharts API, which will probably be useful to me in the future as well.

Project Management Training
From Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization, I have learned a lot about using more creative approaches to accomplish collaborative projects. It is important to be flexible when responsible for an entire group because everyone works in different ways and has various needs. Leaders must also remain optimistic to keep the morale up of their employees and to encourage experimentation throughout a project’s life. Leaders also nee to check themselves for their own anxieties about the project because it could affect the behaviors of the other team members. Anxiety will typically cause a leader to try and grasp for control and doing so will ruin the established dynamic of the group. When things like this happen, the leader needs to be observant of the team and the members themselves and not just physical progress. Trust within a team and its leader was also important.
When guiding creative collaboration, there needs to be a willingness to learn from anyone you possibly can to change and expand your way of thinking. To assess for problems, a great way to do so is to assess for unmet needs, why those needs aren’t being met and key questions to lead to possible solutions. This type of assessment done by a group should their empathy which is exactly what design thinking relies on.
When it comes to prototyping, it is something that should be done fast and often. The result can be a variety of things from paper screens to Lego sets but the purpose of them all is to learn from interacting with them to then be able to adapt them to the clients needs in later stages.

From Microsoft Project 2016 Essential Training, I got an in-depth tutorial on how to use the software for future products. I had no prior experience with Project and am glad I am now familiar with it. The first section showed basic navigation, how to start a project from scratch, and how to customize a variety of features to preferences.
Task creation seemed to be the easiest and most useful part of the tutorial. I liked that nearly every other aspect of project could be connected back to tasks like the calendar and the assignment of resources. There were a lot of options for tasks like manually or automatically creating them. Those tasks could include milestone, recurring, or manual. The tasks could also be prioritized with a rating system.
I learned about resource management next and different inputs like time, quantity, and money. The types of resources (work, material, and cost) require different bits of information that allows project to make calculations for you.
Overall, using Project seems intuitive once you get the chance to mess around with the software. The tutorial continues to more specific capabilities of Projects that allows smaller changes to be made and abilities that are to be used to track the progress of the project through revisions and determinations of success.
