In this project, I created a website that analyzed a specific dataset and provided relevant information about the benefits from the data. This specific dataset was themed around the amount of fully electric and hybrid vehicles that have been registered by the Washington State Department of Licensing. I then hypothesized what the results would be and explained how it could benefit society. This activity was extremely helpful to my Web App Development skills because I had to create the HTML and script code from scratch. I enjoyed the challenge and will utilize the lessons I have learned from this project.

The first I watch was about a course that teaches Microsoft Project 2016 core features, including setting up project components, resource availability and cost, linking tasks, assigning resources, and evaluating schedules and workloads. Author Bonnie Biafore, a Project Management Professional, also covers new features like multiple timelines and the “Tell me what you want to do” field. The second video is about design thinking is a user-centered approach to problem-solving that involves collaboration, mapping customer journeys, and prototyping. This course teaches leaders how to adopt this mindset and provides examples from Turi McKinley’s work at frog, a global design firm. It covers definitions, roles, and strategies, as well as creative collaboration, planning, research, concept creation, and prototyping techniques.

This program calls the data from a Center for Disease Control JSON source to find how the average obesity levels for adults in the US has changed over the years. Specifically, this looks as adults in poverty (income of >$15,000) to see if more action by organizations or the government needs to be taken before it’s too late. The percentage of obesity levels for each state (including D.C.) were added together and then divided by the total number of states to find the averages.

It was found that obesity levels for adults in poverty have increased from the start point 0f 2011 to 2022 by about 5%. More details can be found in the project.

In Turi McKinley’s LinkedIn Learning course, she explains that design thinking is all about putting users at the center of problem-solving. It’s a collaborative approach that involves techniques like mapping customer experiences, brainstorming ideas, and making prototypes. McKinley, who has experience at Frog, a leading design and strategy firm, shares insights on how leaders can guide their teams to embrace this mindset. The course starts by defining design thinking and discussing the essential roles and environments for success. It then delves into practical tips for being an effective design-thinking leader, covering everything from setting clear objectives to managing diverse personalities, including both introverts and extroverts.

In Bonnie Biafore’s LinkedIn Learning course, she provides a comprehensive overview of Microsoft Project 2016, a tool for project management. Throughout the course, I gained a solid understanding of the fundamental features of Microsoft Project, which proved invaluable in my studies, particularly in my leadership globalization course. Additionally, learning about leading design thinking, aligning design teams, and managing creative flow greatly enriched my understanding and skills in project management.

This class project takes a JSON file that contains sales tax revenue from 2019 – 2024. I sorted out the states that do not collect sales tax. Then took the average sales tax each state collect for 2019 and 2024 respectively. Prior to acquiring the actual data I hypothesize want it meant if 2024 revenue was higher than 2019. Finally, I described what the data could mean about the economy and consumer behavior.
