Text Mining and Sentiment Analysis
Research paper on a topic in data analytics for the course MIS 2502. I learned about text mining and sentiment analysis. Within the project, I researched how these tools work and can be applied to business and other applications in the real world.
The goal of this project was for me to dig deeper into exploring an aspect of data analytics and how it applies in the real world. As a result, I learned about natural language processing, and how it is a necessity for machines to interact with humans on a more personal level. By structuring unstructured text/audio data, NLP allows machines to communicate with humans, which is already making it easier for professionals and everyone else alike to attain information at an unmatched pace.

In these LinkedIn Learning courses I learned how to lead change in an organization. There was different terminologies and best practices I’ve come to know. I also learned how to use Microsoft Project. This is a project management software. The course showed the many features included and how to use them to manage your project. The goal was to learn how to be a better project manager by completing these courses, and I did.

Learned how a team can incorporate design thinking into the team’s mindset. Design thinking is essentially a collaborative effort that revolves around user empathy, prototyping, and culture change. A part of the collaborative effort and user empathy is the use of a customer journey map. A customer journey map helps designers empathize with users and it’s a prototype that evolves constantly and is changing constantly throughout the project. In summation, design thinking is a flexible mindset which prioritizes collaboration and the user’s need first over stringent and outdated methods such as the waterfall method.

Learned how to use Microsoft Project for project management. The main thing the training focused on was handling tasks and all the characteristics that come with it. From work tasks and recurring tasks to summary tasks and milestone tasks. I also learned about how to set up a project from excel and set up a calendar along with working times. Another important thing I learned was about resources used in projects. Resources are essentially impacted the project’s cost and schedule, and that could include anything, from people to equipment. This lesson taught me how only how to create resources but also how to manage them and the costs that come with them.
For this pro point assignment I had to take two classes on company organization via LinkedIn learning. Throughout the many hours spent watching I learned hundreds of technical skills that are applicable to every day management of not only my day to day but a team as a whole. Both Bonnie Biafore, and Turi McKinley had invaluable skill the poured into each of their lessons with a passion that made the time and effort yield incredible results. Beyond the ability to use the programs they taught which in the grand scheme of things is not a huge feat I learned the lingo and applications of processes that you tend to forget about as a student. One thing is for certain I will be taking advantage of more LinkedIn lessons for my future growth as an MIS major.
