The most important takeaway from this class was learning how to manage and use data. Knowing what data is useful when trying to answer a question was a very important takeaway. Also, learning the ins and outs of Tableau was very helpful in this class.

I often use blackboard, and for a spreadsheet for blackboard the rows would represent the classes that i take. The columns would be my grades on tests, assignments, homework, and it would count attendance.

The biggest challenge for me on assignment 4 was figuring out what to do with the data given. It was tough to decide what we wanted to create on a graph with the data given. We resolved this problem by thoroughly looking through and cleaning the data to determine how we wanted to show our charts.

A KPI that I use everyday is my body weight scale. It is specific and measurable because it tells me exactly how much I way and the measure is in pounds. I think that the most important mistake to avoid is starting work on the database without doing a full backup first. By forgetting to make up a backup file, you can just lose all of the progress that you made within seconds. I think that the most important principle from the Hoven article is explore. Exploring data is very important because it leads us to way more information. If we just settle on looking at a few data sets, we might get a limited viewpoint on a topic. We should look for many data sets for a better overall understanding of the topic we are looking for.

The most important thing I got out of Mr. Celebi’s presentation was how they use data for everything. They get their data online for free and it is available to the public. I also found that the data is important for Turkish Airlines to make themselves be the best and most profitable company that they can be.
