In my opinion, I think the most important takeaway from this course was seeing how much we interact with data and what we can do with the data we obtained. This course taught me that data is everywhere and that we interact with it in some way everyday. It also taught me how to use different programs such as, Tableau, Excel, and Piktochart to…[Read more]

A data driven service I frequently use is Blackboard. If the data on Blackboard was to be displayed in a spreadsheet, the rows could be each class that I am currently taken. The columns of the spreadsheet would include; total grade for the class, assignments, classwork, class participation, and homework. I think “teacher’ could either go in the…[Read more]

I picked this article because the title stuck out to me, when I first saw it I was curious how failure could be moving science forward. The article talks about how hard science actually is. Taking a study and repeating to see if the results are the same, making the evidence…[Read more]

I use the KPI of how much time I spend studying for tests. This is specific and measurable because I can easily time how long I spend studying the material. It is also achievable because I can compare the time I spent studying to the score I get on the test to determine if I need to study the material more or if the amount I’m doing now is fine.…[Read more]

I have never experienced any of these problems while working in Excel. I think the most important mistake to avoid is starting to work on the database without doing a full backup first. Without a full backup you can easily lose your data. The continuous backups should not be the only thing you rely on.

In my opinion the most important of the eight principles is view diversely. It is important to look at data in different ways. Viewing data differently can help you discover something you did not see before. It can also help create different conclusions and connections from the previous ones because you are able to compare the different views of…[Read more]

The most interesting thing to me was how bias is every where. Bias can lead to you only receiving certain information or even getting the wrong information. For example, my roommates and I wanted to go out to dinner and to a place none of us have been to. We all looked up the reviews and there were so many different reviews that you could tell…[Read more]

The dataset I found was College Scorecard, which was from data.gov. This dataset was interesting because it claims to help students find the right college for them. The dataset shows the affordability, value, programs/degrees, location, and size of any school you choose. This was really interesting to me because I had difficulties with trying to…[Read more]
