

Steven Johnson, Mart Doyle, and Laurel Miller will be honored with the Fox School’s “Innovation in Teaching” award for 2010. The award will be presented on May 4th at the annual Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning award ceremony.

Sondra L. Barbour appointed Executive-in-Residence
Sondra L. Barbour, BBA ’85, CIO, Lockheed Martin Corporation, VP, Lockheed Martin Enterprise Business Services has been appointed “Executive in Residence” at the Fox School’s Management Information Systems (MIS) department and the Institute for Business and Information Technology for the 2010 year. Ms. Barbour was selected as Executive in Residence because of her stature in the field and her continued support for the Fox School. As part of the appointment, Ms. Barbour will be spending several days through the year interacting with Fox School MIS students and faculty.
Barbour will be visiting Fox in April 2010 to start the program. “We are fortunate to have Sondra Barbour, one of our most successful and committed alums as our Executive in Residence” said Munir Mandviwalla, associate professor and chair of the management information systems department at the Fox School of Business.
“As a proud Temple and Fox School alum, this opportunity is particularly meaningful,” Barbour said. “I am looking forward to working closely with Fox School MIS students and faculty and contributing to the Temple community, especially given the Fox MIS department’s national stature in information technology (IT) education and research.”

AMIS is inducted as the first student chapter of AIS
The Association of Management Information Systems (AMIS) was inducted as the first and founding student chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). In recognition of the contribution of the Fox MIS community in leading the formation of student chapters, AMIS was the first chapter to be inducted into AIS at a special ceremony on December 16, 2009, in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the International Conference on Information Systems.
Youngjin Yoo and Paul Pavlou receive Fox School research awards
MIS faculty members Youngjin Yoo and Paul Pavlou were recognized for their research contributions at the Fox School’s 11th Annual Research Roundtable & Teaching Awards Ceremony, on October 23, 2009. Professor Yoo and Pavlou received awards and were listed in the Fox School’s Top Ten Research Honor Roll for 2008-2009.
Adam Alalouf wins Fox MIS e-portfolio contest
Adam Alalouf’s e-portfolio was selected by Matt Mullenweg, the founder of WordPress, as the winning submission in the Fox MIS e-portfolio contest! Molly Benson was declared the runner-up and received a $50 gift certificate.
Angelika Dimoka organizes workshop on neuroscience and information systems
Angelika Dimoka, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Management Information Systems organized a retreat on NeuroIS – the use of neuroimaging tools and theories to better understand the development and use of information and communication technologies in organizations and society. Recently, there has been an explosion in the use of brain imaging tools to study social sciences. Scientists in economics, psychology, and marketing, have teamed up with neuroscientists to examine a variety of phenomena and have made notable advances in understanding decision making and human behavior.
