What I learned this semester:
In MIS 2901 I learned about Agile vs. Waterfall and in this course, I learned how to develop a minimum viable product (MVP) and adding more functionality along the way, which is common in agile methodology. In MIS 3506, the approach is more toward waterfall so I got to be exposed to both methodologies. I also learned the differences between server-side and client-side development and knowing which programming languages should be used for which purpose. For example, PHP is useful in data-driven application, JavaScript & JQuery focus only on client-side, Bootstrap is a great framework to enhance UI, AJAX & JSON are handy to present dynamic content, etc. The project allows us to learn all of those related technologies and most importantly, how they come together to develop a functional prototype/application.
