President, Indonesian Students Association in Philadelphia
President
January – December 2017
PERMIAS, also known as the Indonesian Students Association, is a nonprofit organization that aims to unite Indonesian university students across the U.S. through regional chapters and the PERMIAS National Congress. As the local chapter, PERMIAS Philadelphia is dedicated to promote Indonesian culture to the local community and to foster lasting friendship between students from various colleges and universities in Philadelphia through social and cultural events. During my term as the President, I served the organization in the following ways:
• Overseeing and delegating a team of 7 students across 3 colleges to run an active student organization that promotes Indonesian culture to the local community by collaborating with other Indonesian organizations and community leaders in Philadelphia
• Representing organization locally, by participating in community town hall meetings, and internationally, by being a delegate in the International Symposium for Indonesian Students Association in Northern America and Europe held in Washington, DC in May 2017
• Revitalizing organization’s social media presence, including the addition of a website and online bi-monthly newsletters, leading to improved member engagement
• Leading recruitment of 6 board members and continuing my involvement as an advisor to the current board
