Lead Global Digital Projects (MIS 3535) covers the scope of all things project management. I expanded upon my classroom learning by taking “Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization” and “Microsoft Project 2016 Essential Training” through LinkedIn Learning. In “Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization”, I learned more about design thinking, creative collaboration, and advanced thinking, all of which will be extremely useful in any project I take on post-graduation. In “Microsoft Project 2016 Essential Training”, I learned the ins-and-outs of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for project management. This went in detail about project files, creating tasks, linking and timing tasks, creating resources, assigning tasks to resources, views, project schedules, tracking a project, viewing and reporting project information, and sharing projects. This course was more on the technical side of project management, where the tasks are defined in a spreadsheet and monitored accordingly. In tandem with design thinking, project training will be able to support the conceptual side of project management with technical material.

I recently completed the LinkedIn Learning course ‘Master the Core Features of Microsoft Project 2016.’ This course, sponsored by LinkedIn Learning, was a deep dive into the essential aspects of Microsoft Project 2016, a powerful project management software.
My role as a learner involved actively engaging with the course materials and video content provided by the author, Bonnie Biafore. Throughout the course, I gained a profound understanding of critical project management components, such as setting up project files, creating and linking tasks, managing resources, and fine-tuning project schedules. This learning experience also taught me to effectively track and manage projects, view and report project information, and collaborate on project sharing.
As a result, I’ve developed a strong foundation in using Microsoft Project 2016 for project planning and management. The course was immensely valuable in expanding my project management skill set, and I now feel more confident in using this software to bring projects in on time and within budget.

Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization
In this LinkedIn Course, I learned what design thinking is and how to implement that mindset to help design teams. In addition, I also learned how to manage creative flow and what roles are required for success. To be a good design-thinking leader, constant planning, search, and concept creation are essentials to make designs a reality. Overall, the strategies that Turi covered opened up my mind to be a better leader and how to create change in an organization. Semester Long Project
The goal of this project is to show our understanding of how API’s are used to make projects or websites. The result of this project is that it made me comfortable working with APIs.
Project URL: – https://github.com/SideWays143/Semester-Long-Project.
There are many things that I learned from this API project. I learned to add API’s in my projects, make my self familiar with JSON data, learned how to use NYC open data, learned how I can get data from the API’s.
Orlando Business License API
The repository for the project that includes a paragraph stating its purpose (found within the “readme” section) , as well as the project code can be found here: https://github.com/danielaknipe/mis2402semester/tree/d3bc3d84d10084c1fcab2143b49800261611b6ed
The code within the class server can be accessed through this link: https://misdemo.temple.edu/tuk77895/api_project_full/
This project utilizes an API based off of the business license tax receipts within the city of Orlando. I used data within the API to create a line graph based off of the amount of business licenses opened between 2000-2023. I also used data to create a bar graph with five different business types, such as “professional” and “merchant” licenses.
Food Waste Tracker Web Application
- My partner and I created a web application that allows a user to enter the weight of their food waste (lbs), the date, and the Temple dining hall they ate at to get visuals and predictions on how much of their waste was processed by Temple’s biodigesters and the amount that went to the landfill. The web application also allows Aramark employees to enter new food waste data records that will be entered into the database that is used to make the user-predictions. I learned how to create two user roles for one application. I also learned how to iteratively improve a web application for better UX, accessibility, and unique features.

AWS Academy Cloud Foundations Course

- The goals of the project included completing all 10 modules for the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations canvas course to help us better understand the content being taught in our Cloud Architecture class.
- Some of the course topics that was discussed included:
- AWS Well-Architected Framework Design Principles
- Creating instance-based web servers
- AWS Services (Compute, Storage, Database, Networking)
- Networks and the AWS Platform
- Serving webpages with cloudfront CDN
- Structure and security of a VPC (private and public subnets, security groups vs NACLs, internet gateway, routers)
- Creating lambda functions (creating APIS of our own that communicate with other APIs)
- From learning what are virtual machines to building our own APIs that communicate with other APIs, I was able to learn a great amount from Professor Doyle and his Cloud Architecture course. By providing the additional resources of AWS Academy, I was able to dive deeper into AWS and better understand the in-class activities and projects that my classmates and I were able to work through together as a team.
