MIS 2901: Honors Information Systems in Organizations

August – December 2018

“The Diamond Peer Teachers Program is a competitive program providing upper division undergraduates at Temple the opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of college-level teaching, to develop their own pedagogical skills by working closely with their faculty mentors, and to provide supplemental instruction in lower-level and GenEd courses.

Approximately 40 positions will be available per semester, 15 of which are reserved for GenEd courses.”

I peer taught with Professor Mart Doyle as his Diamond Peer Teacher for MIS 2901: Honors Information Systems for Organizations in Fall 2018. Although his section only had 20 students, I was responsible for providing academic support to a combined 1400 students across 20 course sections. I led monthly study sessions leading up to exams, which had 100 students in attendance. I also liaised with 25 instructors and Information Technology Assistants to coordinate help desk hours for assignments. Lastly, I worked on a special project to develop a new curriculum on Information Security. I assisted a cyber security professional to put together the course content, revamped the slide deck, and evaluated relevant articles and videos for students.
