- For MIS3406, this Class Project required the completion of 10 Modules of AWS Academy Cloud Foundations to gain a certificate from AWS. All of the modules provided a foundation to the course material taught by my professor, Mart Doyle. Topics included:
- Cloud Concepts
- Cloud Billing – focuses on pricing and charging for cloud services, explains different pricing models such as pay-as-you-go, subscription based, and spot pricing
- AWS Global Infrastructure – the collection of data centers and network points across the globe
- Cloud Security – different security measures that are taken to protect the cloud such as firewalls and NACLs
- Networking and Content Delivery – services that can enable communication between the cloud and the user
- Compute – services that can run and manage applications
- Storage – allows the user to store and manage data on the cloud
- Databases – can create, manage, and operate databases on the cloud
- Cloud Architecture – design and deployment of cloud applications
- Autoscaling and Monitoring – services that enable the user to scale their IT/cloud infrastructure and to monitor it efficiently.

Temple MIS faculty are again among the most prolific in the world in 2022, according to the 
Pang, who studies strategic IT management in the public sector, remarks, “It’s exciting to be part of a group so engaged with research.”
“The MIS Department and Fox School support and value research,” says Straub, who studies cyber security, technology innovation, and research methods, “This allows the faculty to thrive.”
