- Going forward with the current situation in the world, such a structure or even a modified version of this could be used by governments or other institutions to keep track of the COVID numbers in the world/country/state. This could also be used by governments to raise awareness towards medical institutions in order to have them prepare for unexpected situations with medical provisions such as beds, treatment facilities, etc. In addition, if implemented right, this could be used as a way to identify hot spot areas and take measures in containing/controlling those areas instead of going into country-wide lockdowns and resulting in unhealthy economies.

The goals of this project is to research a current topic in Data Analytics and display my ability to understand and describe the topic to future employers. The topic I decided to research was about Natural Language Processing. What I learned from this project was that there are huge advancements in Natural Language Processing such as Neural Networks can now extract information from large bodies of text incredibly quickly. They’re able to classify text into different categories, determine sentiment about text, and perform analysis on the similarity of text data. In the end, all of that information can be stored in a single feature vector of numbers. As a result, NLP becomes a powerful tool in Data Science. Huge datastores of text, not just one-word answers but full-on paragraphs, can be transformed into numerical data for standard analysis. We’re now able to explore datasets that are far more complex.
Web API
The goal of the project was to implement an API that we have researched upon and develop a working proof of concept with a recommendation on how a business can implement this API.
Recommendation:
The following API used in the project is found at https://weatherstack.com/. This API used in the analysis can be beneficial for many companies. The API gives an accurate timeline of the weather with enhanced and informative data. With the API, companies that use weather analysis can get a range of different data types to have an efficient workplace. Companies in the delivery industry can be highly benefitted from this API. The API gives an accurate timeline of the weather and can be utilized, to conduct their duties safer and efficiently. The API is extremely robust in its data and users can implement several variations to use it to its best potential. Many companies such as Deloitte, Microsoft, Wawa, and much more use this API to better their workflow.
Project :
This project had several errors, and the API uses a subscription basis, the free package has a limited data run of 1000 with an API key. The overall project also implemented slight CSS to have a better view, however, was not able to be processed.
Web API Project
My program was meant to allow up to 4 people to choose which type of cuisine sounded good to them, then the program would find the common preferences, then it would display those along with related links to recipes. I was able to successfully implement this program except for one issue. I wanted the links that were displayed to reflected the user’s food preferences, but I couldn’t get it to work with the time I had. I learned a lot about creating a whole program, because up until this project I mostly worked with individual functions. I also learned a lot about using APIs. I tested a few different APIs to get recipe links so I gained a lot of experience working with them. Overall, I’m very proud of the program I created, I just wish I had more time!

Microsoft Project Essential training:

After taking this course, I’ve learned the core features of Microsoft Project 2016, from the basics such as creating a project and setting up calendars, to working with graphical reports and using earned value. There were many type of tasks that could be created; manual, auto scheduled, milestone, recurring, and summary. In addition to creating tasks, the course showed how to manage the many tasks. A utility of Microsoft Project that I appreciate is the flexibility with saving. You can publish to the web by choosing the XML format or by creating a PDF. Comparing Microsoft Project to the web app my team used in class, Asana, I think I personally prefer Asana at the moment. However, a 6 hour course is not enough time for me to explore Microsoft Project to decide which one is better since that there’s much more uncovered material to go through.

Leading Change:

This course on leading change taught me about design thinking and how to use it to make cultural changes. Design thinking is a human or user centered approach to innovation. This process includes using strategies such as mapping customer journeys, which is similar to what we’ve used in MIS 3535 revolving users; product backlog, roadmap, etc. After learning about design thinking, the course goes into leading it and how to align a team. McKinley explains the challenges that come along with design thinking, one of them being big picture paralysis, where the frame is set so large that no frame exists to determine next steps. An interesting topic I haven’t heard of yet was Lo-fi prototype, or low fidelity prototypes. They are prototypes made with materials at hand, often paper, and takes a short amount of time to put together.

Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization: The lead change in your organization course provided me with the fundamentals of design thinking, leading design thinking, guiding creative collaboration, and making to advance thinking. While completing this course I was able to draw many parallels between this course and professor Martin’s lectures from MIS 3535. I was able to relate the see-feel-change concept that we related to the stories from The Heart of Change by James Kotter. The course provided a framework for effectively communicating change, how to establish a creative work environment, and the various tactics that are involved in an iterative cycle to ensure the team is on track.

Big Data
I researched and thoroughly explain big data. I touched on its components, which are velocity, volume, and variety. I then explained how it’s beneficial in the business world due to its large range of information. Even though big data is unstructured, it is still extremely valuable seeing as how it can allow us to make predictions, analyzations, and track patterns.
